Gayle Wilde and Wilde about Food

Gayle has been running her catering company Wilde about Food, from her home in rural Hampshire for nearly 14 years. Wilde about Food is situated between Winchester and the New Forest, and operates largely across Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Gayle’s first passion has always been food, however she was torn between pursuing a career in cooking or nursing. She worked as a chalet girl and for a busy London catering company, before taking the nursing route, culminating as an A&E Sister in a major London hospital. After having her three children, Gayle revisited her passion for food by establishing a Children’s cooking company with a friend. In 2002, Gayle and her family moved to Hampshire and she created Wilde about Food in 2004.

Food has changed so much over the past decade, and Wilde about Food likes to move with the times. Gayle’s two daughters are vegetarian, and so she has enjoyed exploring this ever-changing trend and ways of encompassing delicious dishes to also suit her carnivorous husband and son. Gayle’s passion for delving into new recipes and flavours that suit the current food climate has resulted in her producing traditional and modern food with a twist.

Gayle prides herself on not only producing yummy food, but also a unique and tailored experience for every client. She adapts her menus to each client’s requirements whilst offering her breadth of catering experience regarding the nature of the event. Wilde about Food tries to use as much local produce as possible, from dairy farms in the New Forest, tomatoes from the Isle of Wight, to trout from the River Test. This helps Wilde about Food to reduce its impact on the environment.

Wilde about Food understands that your party is a special occasion, whether it be a wedding for 150 people or an intimate dinner party for your closest friends, Gayle will support you every step of the way with her immaculate attention to detail and meticulous planning in order for the event to run smoothly. So you can enjoy your special day as a host, without the strings attached.

Wilde about Food are not event organisers but ensure the catering aspects of your special occasion is carried out at the highest of standards.

 

Events

 

Wilde about Food can cater for up to 130 people seated, and up to 180 people for canapés. If you are planning a dinner party for less than 16 people there is a small additional fee.

  • For all events Wilde about Food provide a team of experienced waiting staff.

  • If required, glasses, crockery, cutlery, and linen hire can be organised for you.

  • A ‘drop off’ service is also available.

Cooking Demonstrations

Usually during the quieter seasons of winter and early spring, Gayle runs cookery demonstrations from her family kitchen. It is not only a great chance to be introduced to new and modern recipes, but it is a fun evening where you have the opportunity to taste delicious food. Gayle does not take bookings in advance for these demonstrations, she creates them as and when suits her working time table and will send out an email to advertise.

These demonstrations are a great opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone and learn new skills, or to explore your creative side further by embracing new flavours and techniques.
